Where it all began

I’m currently sitting in our home away from home, on the banks of a beautiful Scottish Loch, looking out at the water, taking some time to reflect.

Honouring Your Emotions

Wow!!  One whole month has passed and what a month it has been!!!

Definitely an emotional rollercoaster, but in the best possible way.  The days leading up to the online launch, were super stressful.  It had been all systems go pretty much for 3 months leading up to this point, so you can imagine how we were all feeling.  Nervous, excited, tired, apprehensive, were we going to get everything ready in time for launch day?  Thankfully we did and what a day it was.

We managed to get Amazon best-seller in 14 categories by the end of the day, which is just phenomenal.  What a ‘pinch me’ moment.  I want to take this chance again to say a huge thank you to all of you for sharing the excitement of the launch, for buying the journal, for sharing it with your friends and family, and for really getting behind me.  Your support has meant so much to me, thank you!

The following week there was still no time to rest as we had organised the official ‘in person’ launch for Fri 19th August, so we had lots still to pull together.  It was a very intimate event, held at The Loft, Restoration Yard, Dalkeith with family & close friends.  To say I was emotional was a slight understatement.  The event itself was beautiful.  We had local guest speakers Chelsea Greens from Chelsea Greens Yoga (greensyoga.com) and Naomi Mills from Life & Light Chiropractic (lifeandlightchiropractic.co.uk), to give us a brief insight into some of the mindfulness techniques I briefly touch on in the journal.  Have a look at their websites to find yoga classes, or mindful mornings near you, or have a look at some of the retreats Naomi has to offer, especially if fire walking is something that has you intrigued.

I want to touch now on honouring your emotions.  Now while all of the above was amazing, exhilarating, exciting, and everything else in between, I knew from understanding myself that it would all take its toll.  I am someone that doesn’t do well energetically when I’m constantly on the go and to really live in alignment with my internal energetics (which is what I’ve been learning over the past 3+ years), I need to make sure that while I am super hard working and tend to be spinning way too many plates at once, that I make sure I give myself TIME in between it all to be still.  By giving myself breaks and knowing when I need to switch off, it has made life so much easier for me to really be productive and work to the best of my ability.

Given that the launch had a lot of deadlines, there wasn’t as much opportunity to follow what is most aligned to me, and needless to say I had a very small crash.  I knew it would come and made sure I took the 2 days following the launch off, so I could really recharge.  I still went to the gym as that is something else my energy needs me to do to feel good, but in general, I had a few hours each afternoon watching rubbish on the tv and NOT feeling guilty about it.  By day 3 it was time for the tears.  I need everyone to know that this is OK and that expressing emotion like this is actually good for you.  It helps relieve stress, it prevents you from internalising your feelings, we release endorphins which help us self-soothe and ultimately feel better.  I had my chilled day, I had my cry and I felt AMAZING the following day.  Prior to understanding myself, I wouldn’t have been aware of my triggers and the downtime I needed and this crash would potentially have lasted a lot longer.

The point of me sharing this with you is to make you more aware of emotions and to let you know they are ok.  Stop fighting them, let them come, feel them, don’t spend hours questioning them & trying to work out the ‘why’, acknowledge them, then feel better from that process.

If you have been loving the journal so far, we are always keen to hear feedback from you.  You can message me or reply to this email to let me know how you’re getting on.

We are still hugely keen to get the word out to as many people as possible, so the more you can spread the word about the journal, the better.

Thank you all so much again for everything this past month!!  You are all amazing!

All my love,

Sus x
